Volunteers are a huge part of Kinfauns Stables RDA where they carry out a vast range of tasks that are all vital to the smooth running of the centre. They give their free time, energy and skills to help deliver the RDA objectives. We are extremely grateful to them for their contributions.   

The minimum age for volunteering with us is 14 years old and there is no upper age limit.We have a duty of care, so we require that volunteers be fit to carry out their chosen role. In accordance with our equal opportunity policy we welcome both male and female Volunteers and people with additional support needs. 

Volunteers can help us in a variety of roles including bringing in horses, groomimg,tacking up,leading and side helping in lessons, untacking, cleaning stables/ tack,  administration and fundraising. 

We give youngsters between the age of 14 and 25 years old the opportunity to achieve a saltire award and welcome participants who would like to do their Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer section with us. 

Anyone wishing to become a volunteer will firstly meet one of our staff at the stables for a chat to discuss roles available, then fill in an application form supplying 2 references. When accepted the applicant will have to complete a PVG scheme disclosure check. This may take a few weeks but you may do limited duties while waiting on the outcome of this procedure. 

Kinfauns stables RDA provides adequate and appropriate insurance cover for volunteers whilst undertaking voluntary work approved and authorised by us.

All volunteers will receive induction training and on going training to develop their skills. Training courses by external sources are run at the stables throughout the year and everyone is given the opportunity to attend.We recognise that volunteers require satisfying work and personal development and we will seek to help volunteers meet these needs.  

No previous experience with horses is necessary nor is experience of working with disabled or additional support needs children/adults as full training will be provided.
